Fibroids and Failed Pregnancies

Part 3 of our discussion on Fibroids. Fibroids can be a source of failed pregnancy (miscarriage). When such pregnancy failure occurs, thorough evaluation with transvaginal ultrasound and sometimes saline infusion sonohysterography is essential to be sure that the uterus is, in fact, normal and may not be the culprit for the failed pregnancy (most of the time failed pregnancies are due to abnormal chromosomes, and nature is smarter in not allowing such pregnancies to continue).

More on failed pregnancies. Dr Goldstein, a leading gynecologist in NYC and one of the nation’s most highly recognized and regarded individuals in the field of vaginal probe ultrasounds, sees patients for early pregnancy monitoring by transvaginal ultrasound. Pregnancies are passed one to four weeks after they lose their viability. The use of transvaginal ultrasound helps Dr Goldstein to detect any failed pregnancy prior to spontaneous passage of pregnancy tissue (miscarriage). This allows for an elective D&C and chromosomal analysis of the pregnancy tissue to give the couple a better understanding of why the pregnancy may have failed, and to prevent recurring miscarriages.

Women who are pregnant or are planning on becoming pregnant will benefit from early pregnancy monitoring and evaluation by transvaginal ultrasound and saline infusion sonohysterography by Dr Goldstein, a NYC Gyn, to be sure that their uterus is normal and free of any fibroids that may cause failed pregnancies.
